Upstate, SC – March 9, 2010 – CommunitySouth Bank & Trust employees were well represented during Career Day at Concrete Primary in Easley on Feb. 16.
Senior Vice President / Mortgage Department Manager Joe Albright and Customer Service Representative Lisa Crowe both spoke to the school’s second-graders about their jobs in the banking industry.
Albright explained how mortgage professionals help families purchase homes to live in and Crowe talked to the group about the importance of starting a savings account early in life. The Bank’s Cookie Jar Savings Account and accompanying Cookie Jar Savings Club are designed to teach minors the value of saving.
“It was a lot of fun, and I couldn’t believe the questions they had,” said Crowe, who has been in banking locally for the last 13 years and with CommunitySouth since 2007. “They were a really smart and interesting group. I really appreciated the chance to talk with them.”
As a special treat, Albright and Crowe brought along the Bank’s mascot, Chip the Cookie Jar. Chip wowed the crowd with his dancing moves while the second-graders chanted “Cookie Jar! Cookie Jar!” Then all the second-graders were given freshly-baked cookies – one of the Bank’s signature refreshment items.
“We had a great time talking to the kids at Concrete Primary,” said Albright, whose daughter is a second-grader at the school. “They were genuinely interested in learning about banking and money and savings, and Chip was a big hit with them. Plus, what second-grader doesn’t love cookies?”
